Job Title: Backend Software Engineer (Senior to Staff) — Fully Remote, U.S.

About the Company:

We’re representing a Series A startup (~$20M raised) founded by seasoned security and enterprise software leaders. The team includes veterans from top-tier technology companies and is backed by world-class venture investors and former tech CEOs. The company is building a next-generation autonomous security platform — think “Autopilot for Enterprise Security” — automating how organizations measure, manage, and strengthen their security posture.

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a Senior or Staff-level Backend Engineer to join a lean, high-caliber engineering team (~12 engineers). You’ll design and build core backend systems supporting the platform’s scalability, data pipelines, APIs, and multi-tenant infrastructure. The ideal candidate thrives in early-stage environments, values ownership and technical depth, and wants to make an immediate impact on a mission-critical product.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain backend systems (APIs, data processing, platform, infrastructure).
  • Develop scalable data pipelines and optimize database performance.
  • Architect and implement secure, multi-tenant SaaS components.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to balance technical excellence with product delivery.
  • Drive best practices in system design, code quality, and performance.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend, platform, or system programming.
  • Strong proficiency in Python (preferred) and familiarity with modern frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS or other major cloud providers (GCP, Azure).
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, relational databases, and API design best practices.
  • U.S. citizenship or Green Card required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Designing or scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Building or maintaining data pipelines in production.
  • Strong system design and architectural skills.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK).
  • Familiarity with mathematical optimization or logic-based programming a plus.

Location:

Fully Remote (U.S. only). Optional periodic meetups for team collaboration.

Compensation:

Competitive salary (commensurate with level and experience) + equity and benefits.

Why This Role:

You’ll join a small, senior team solving one of enterprise software’s hardest problems. Expect autonomy, meaningful equity, a long runway, and leadership that values craft and impact over bureaucracy.
