About the company

Seed-stage ($9.6M) AI procurement platform for consumer packaged goods brands, replacing inbox-and-spreadsheet sourcing with structure and leverage. Led by a repeat founder, SOC 2 compliant and selling into large manufacturers.

The role: Senior Backend Engineer

Own the architecture and data systems that will scale the platform. You'll be the go-to person for schema design, data migrations and queuing infrastructure, and you'll also build customer-facing product about 40-50% of the time on a small, fast-moving team.

• Architect backend systems: schema design, API standards and large data migrations on live customer data
• Move from direct database writes to scalable async processing with queues
• Set patterns and guide other engineers on system design
• Build customer-facing features, shipping fast and iterating on feedback
• Use AI tools and agentic workflows daily

What they're looking for

• 6+ years of production experience with depth in backend/data systems (schemas, migrations, queues, APIs)
• 2+ years at a startup, ideally Series A or earlier
• Clear communicator who can explain the customer problems you solved
• AI-native workflow with agentic coding tools
• B2B application experience; unstructured data or scaling challenges a plus

Tech: TypeScript, Node, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS

Compensation: $200K-$235K base + meaningful seed-stage equity

Location: On-site in Redwood City, CA, 5 days/week. Visa transfers and relocation assistance available.
