Title: FOUNDING Member of Technical Staff (Backend, Product Engineering)

Type: Full-time

Location: On-site, San Francisco, CA

Compensation: $100K – $225K salary + significant equity (0.20% – 1.50%)

Visa Sponsorship: Not available (US citizen/visa only)


Responsibilities

Build and test robust backend systems that power Trellis’s unstructured data platform.

Own features end-to-end: design, develop, deploy, maintain.

Collaborate directly with founders and Fortune 500 customers to understand workflows and deliver solutions.

Contribute to Trellis’s AI agent that converts messy, unstructured documents into structured data.

Drive improvements in prior authorization approvals and clinical decision-making.

Optimize and scale infrastructure to handle millions of clinical data points.


Requirements

1–5 years of backend product engineering experience.

Track record of shipping impactful features and working on complex systems.

Comfortable across full-stack, but backend-focused.


Bonus Skills

LLMs and RAG (retrieval-augmented generation)

Workflow automation frameworks (Temporal, Puppeteer)

Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

We're looking for an experienced backend product engineer with 1+ years of experience in architecting, developing, and testing full-stack code end-to-end. You should be comfortable building complex software systems and have a track record of driving impactful product features. Bonus points if you have experience with LLMs, RAG, workflow automation frameworks like Temporal or Puppeteer, and cloud platforms.Design, develop, and test robust backend systems that power Trellis's unstructured data platform.

Take ownership of key product features from conception to deployment, ensuring high quality and performance.

Work closely with the founding team and F500 customers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that streamline healthcare operations.

Contribute to the evolution of our AI agent, converting messy, unstructured documents into clean, structured data.

Lead initiatives to improve prior authorization approval rates and enhance clinical decision-making through structured data.

Optimize and scale existing systems to handle millions of clinical data points and reduce administrative costs in healthcare.
