Sirona Medical - Staff/Senior Frontend Engineer
QUICK PITCH
Sirona Medical is a CA-based software company founded on a deep understanding of both the practice and business of radiology, is addressing the needs of today’s radiology practices with a novel cloud-native platform that unifies radiology IT applications onto a single, streamlined workspace with the goal of enabling radiologists to work as fast as they can think.
Mission: Sirona's mission is to improve the experience and efficiency of providing care for radiologists and their practices.
Scope: Sirona is a leader in the Imaging IT space which accounts for 80% of ALL healthcare data by volume.
Impact:This is an opportunity to rearchitect from the ground up a modern infrastructure that allows medical images to be as valuable as possible to healthcare. This is effectively a re-architecture of the healthcare IT puzzle in a meaningful way. There is not another company doing this.
Significant Technical Challenge: Imaging IT (X-rays, CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, etc.) presents very unique and gnarly technical challenges at huge scale and complexity.
Ambition: Medical images are by far, the most important diagnostic tool in the healthcare arena and Sirona is building the operating system for the entire imaging industry.
Force for Good:It's an opportunity to work on genuine mission-critical applications that have a demonstrative impact on patient care today and to build AI and ML driven products for the future.
TAM:Radiology in the U.S. is a $128B industry (and growing) comprised of 35K+ radiologists. Internationally, the footprint is even bigger crossing the $400B mark.
Traction:Sirona is integrated with several of the top 50 private practice radiology groups in the U.S. which between them manage approximately 11M patients a year.
Vision/Growth:The proliferation of imaging software across devices and domains (i.e. the ability to look at an ultrasound on your iPhone) will make the imaging market multiple times larger than it is today within the next ten years. Stephen Hemsley, former CEO of United Health Group, said this is one of the top three most important trends in healthcare for the next decade.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Cameron Andrews, Sirona's Founder and CEO sums it up best here: Why 'Do No Harm' Isn't Good Enough for Radiology and Radiology ITTHE PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY
The growing shortage of radiologists and the increasing volume of diagnostic studies, coupled with shrinking reimbursement, have placed radiology practices under enormous pressure.
Moreover, radiologists have been expected to adapt their workflow to legacy systems that have been cobbled together with little consideration for their natural processes for far too long. Why should radiologists have to spend 40% of their time on non-imaging tasks and working with a mish-mash of disparate software components? Radiologists deserve better...and so do the patients that need them.
Imaging technology (X-rays, CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, etc.) represents 80% of ALL healthcare data by volume in healthcare IT (EMR being the remaining). What is required is a fundamental re-architecture from the ground up of a modern infrastructure that allows medical images to be as valuable as possible to healthcare.
Enter Sirona Medical...
THE SOLUTION
Sirona has built the first truly cloud-native workflow platform for healthcare. Designed to unify fragmented radiology IT systems, Sirona's platform aims to simplify workflow and boost the speed at which radiologists can read, diagnose, and report. And without having to go through arduous regulatory approval for the Sirona Workspace. This is extremely unique in the healthcare domain.
The unified Workspace, embedded with Machine Learning tools, allows radiologists to focus on the image and patient diagnosis rather than managing disparate technological components. This saves radiologists time and supports the delivery of high-quality reports, essential to practice referrals and reimbursements.
Sirona also has the ability to build and ship product within the “walls of their own system” without having to rely on others. To be able to build and ship ML/AI products within their own platform, with the enormous amounts of data in that platform, is very unique within the space.
Ultimately, Sirona's radiology operating system (RadOS) puts radiologists in the driver's seat with AI-powered solutions that combines three disparate modules in one: a zero-footprint viewer, a universal worklist, and a voice recognition reporter, thereby providing radiologists with the latest computational tools to remove the tedious and laborious aspects of their workflow and allowing them to focus on what they do best...helping patients.
